Description

Veggies By The Sea is an emerging small family farm enterprise, started as an outgrowth of homeschooling by a mom and two of our three sons. We grow all our own produce using sustainable farming practices while considering the merits of transitioning to organic production. We believe in building the soil to feed our bodies and souls, working to provide wholesome and pure foods to our valued customers as we seek to sustain our own health through eating good food.
Spring 2011finds us growing in soil that is responding like farmer's soil, as we keep working to understand crop rotation, using steel tractors (hoes!) to cultivate, and companion planting to keep the pests away.
Featuring sweet peas and several varieties of beans as well as the three sisters (squash, corn and beans) while growing tomatoes with basil are some of the several 'experiments' we will continue.
We are open to planting crops and varieties that we are not familiar with when we can get the seeds. If we don't have what you need we are happy to provide direction to other farmers who might be able to help you eat to live. We are happy to be among the group of farmers who are looking to grow their own businesses in this field.
Our work in the field of agricultural leadership includes 4-H, NJHA and other Cooperative Extension outreach through NC A&T and NC State Universities. We are more than happy to share what we're learning as we traverse the state watching the way farmers work and get their best food to you for your best health.
